5 Tips to Help Reach Your Weight Loss & Exercise Goals

Every year the most common New Year’s resolutions are to lose weight and exercise. Here are five tips to help you be more successful at reaching your goals.

1. Make multiple resolutions, not just one. In a recent study, those who had made multiple heart-healthy changes were 20 percent more likely to have stuck with them compared to those who made only one.

2. Give yourself daily reminders. Signing up for newsletters and getting weekly diet and exercise advice is a great reminder to boost your physical activity and eat smarter.

3. Don't be so hard on yourself! If you fall off the wagon, don’t beat yourself up over it. Just jump back on and keep working toward your goals.

4. Find the *right* motivation. Find a strong motivator that lets you measure the impact of your effort beyond today. Remember what motivates you to help stay the course when you're inclined to cheat.

5. Change your thought process about what your goal really is. It may not be "losing 15 pounds," but getting fit!
